FSADo you have a flexible spending account (FSA), or health savings account (HSA) with your health insurance plan? If you do, you are likely not reaping the most benefit from it. Many people don’t even realize what all they can use their FSA to pay for. One way to save money in 2017 is to make the most of your FSA, and never pay out of pocket unnecessarily again.

FSA Eligible Items

Exams: routine medical, dental, vision, hearing, x-rays, blood work, diabetes, visit co-pays

Treatments: acupuncture, chiropractic, fertility, therapy, smoking cessation

Monitors: blood pressure, glucose, breast pumps, fertility, body scans

Classes: breastfeeding, childbirth

Testing kits: pregnancy, cholesterol, diabetic supplies

General: condoms, contact lenses/eye glasses, dentures, hearing aids, walking aids, sunscreen, first aid kits, prescription drugs, immunizations

There are other items and services that can be covered by a FSA, but these vary by plan and many require a Doctor’s prescription. Check with your health insurance plan about the specifics for using a FSA to maximize your benefits.
