13- Changes to This Agreement

14- Debit Card and Payment Link Terms

These Debit Card and Payment Link Terms apply to payments made to Reaves & Lee, PLLC through a payment link, hosted checkout page, invoice link, QR code, or other electronic payment method made available by or through our payment processor, Finix Payments, Inc. or its related payment-processing service providers.

By submitting a payment through a payment link, you authorize Reaves & Lee, PLLC and its payment processor to initiate a one-time debit card, card, or other approved electronic payment transaction in the amount displayed to you before payment is submitted. You represent that you are the authorized cardholder or otherwise have permission to use the payment method submitted.

Payments may be used for consultation fees, earned legal fees, advance fee deposits, retainers, costs, expenses, invoices, or other amounts owed to or requested by Reaves & Lee, PLLC, as identified in the applicable invoice, engagement agreement, payment request, or payment page. The payment method used does not determine whether funds are earned fees, advance fees, client funds, or cost deposits. The characterization and handling of funds will be governed by the applicable engagement agreement, invoice, Texas law, and applicable rules of professional conduct.

Submitting payment does not, by itself, create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship with Reaves & Lee, PLLC is created only by a written engagement or retainer agreement signed or otherwise accepted by Reaves & Lee, PLLC. Payment also does not guarantee any legal outcome, filing, court result, discharge, settlement, or other result.

Payment information submitted through a payment link is collected and processed by our third-party payment processor and related banks, card networks, and service providers. Reaves & Lee, PLLC does not intend to collect or store full debit card numbers, card verification codes, or similar sensitive card authentication data through its website. Please do not include confidential legal facts, Social Security numbers, case-sensitive information, or other sensitive information in any payment memo, note, or description field unless specifically instructed by Reaves & Lee, PLLC.

The total amount to be charged will be shown before you submit payment. Your bank or card issuer may separately impose its own fees, holds, overdraft charges, currency-conversion charges, or other charges under your agreement with that institution. Reaves & Lee, PLLC is not responsible for charges imposed by your bank or card issuer.

Reaves & Lee, PLLC does not impose a surcharge solely because you use a debit card. Any amount charged through a payment link will be disclosed before payment is submitted and will be handled in accordance with applicable law, card-network rules, and processor requirements.

Refunds, cancellations, and fee disputes are governed by the applicable engagement agreement, invoice, court order if any, Texas law, and applicable rules of professional conduct. Refund requests should be directed to Reaves & Lee, PLLC using the contact information below. When a refund is approved, it will generally be issued to the original payment method when practical, unless another method is required or appropriate. Processing times may vary depending on the payment processor, card network, and issuing bank.

A declined, reversed, returned, disputed, or charged-back payment may be treated as unpaid unless and until funds are actually received and no longer subject to reversal. You agree to contact Reaves & Lee, PLLC promptly if you believe a payment was made in error or if you dispute an invoice or charge. Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute does not by itself terminate any obligation you may have under an engagement agreement, invoice, court order, or applicable law.

If someone other than the client pays or attempts to pay fees or costs for a client, that payment does not make the payer a client of Reaves & Lee, PLLC and does not entitle the payer to confidential information about the client or the client’s matter. Any disclosure of client information to a third-party payer will be governed by the client’s authorization, applicable law, and applicable rules of professional conduct.

We may suspend, decline, refund, reverse, or refuse to accept any payment when we believe doing so is required or appropriate because of a conflict check, incomplete engagement process, suspected fraud, payment-processing issue, incorrect amount, ethical obligation, legal restriction, or other administrative or legal reason.

Questions about payments, refunds, or billing may be directed to Reaves & Lee, PLLC at the phone number listed in the Contact section of these Terms.
